1936 Edward VIII, Suburban Stamp Company cover

1st September 1936 Edward VIII ½d, 1½d & 2½d with a Ludgate Circus, London registered CDS (the 1d value was not released until the 14th). Suburban Stamp Company cover and printed address, a scarce illustration.

Only four GB stamps were issued during his reign. The first three values were released on 1^st September 1936, with the 1d following two weeks later on the 14^th. The portrait was based on a photograph taken by Hugh Cecil, with the clean and simple designs reflecting Edwards own tastes and breaking away from the traditional and intricate details of his predecessors.
