Charles Kingsford Smith (1897 - 1935) was a world famous Australian aviator whose notable feats include the first trans-Pacific flight between the USA and Australia, the first non-stop crossing of the Australian mainland, the first flights between Australia and New Zealand, and the speed record from Australia to London in only 10.5 days. Kingsford-Smith, along with fellow Australian aviator Charles Ulm, founded Australian National Airways in 1929.
