1931 Australia - England Christmas Flight, Australia National Airway official illustrated cover.
ANA arranged the first All-Australian airmail to England. The Avro Ten, VH-UNA ‘Southern Sun’ left Hobart on 19th November, piloted by George Allan. They crashed at Alor Star, Kedah, but the mails were saved after Charles Kingsford Smith flew the ‘Southern Star’ to carry them for the remainder of the journey to London where he arrived on the 16th December.
