150th anniversary of the Great Eastern Railway, a prominent railway company during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. An interesting aspect of the Great Eastern Railway is its association with the famous author Charles Dickens. In fact, the railway played a significant role in inspiring Dickens' novel "Great Expectations." The scenes in the book where Pip meets the convict Magwitch in the marshes were influenced by Dickens' own experience of witnessing a group of escaped convicts on the railway during his travels. This connection adds a fascinating literary dimension to the history of the Great Eastern Railway.
