Why this is perfect for YOUR collection:

300th Anniversary of Great Britain

The 2nd cover in our Coin Series.

Scotland and England: United for 300 Years

The "Kingdom of Great Britain" was born on 1 May 1707. The Acts of Unions passed by the Parliaments of England and Scotland officially merged the two countries into one state.

Ever since Elizabeth I died in 1603, leaving her thrown to the Scottish King James VI (he became the English James I), Scotland and England had shared a monarch. But they had retained sovereign parliaments.

Of course, in 1999, Scotland got her own (devolved) parliament once again!
