Britain's only remaining large wild predator has walked this land for millions of years before mankind arrived or domestic cats evolved. We were thrilled to work with the Scottish Wildcat Association to produce their official cover.

Our cover coincides with the set of Endangered Mammals stamps issued by Royal Mail on 13th April 2010. The wildcat is featured on the 1st class stamp.

It is cancelled on the day of issue with our official Scottish Wildcat Association postmark, in Edinburgh, where the Association is based. Their logo is also on the cover.

Signed Editions

Our signed editions are autographed by renowned wildlife photographer, Peter Cairns who took the photograph on our first day cover.

Based in the heart of Scotland 's Cairngorms National Park , Peter Cairns is a freelance nature photographer whose images and features have appeared in publications around the world.

Peter was a co-founder of the Tooth & Claw predator project and is currently the Business Director of Wild Wonders of Europe. You can find out more about him on his own website www.northshots.com.

Official Scottish Wildcat Association first day cover

The Scottish Wildcat Association is a new charity, formed in 2007. The beautiful Scottish wildcat cat had never had a dedicated organisation to champion it's cause before as one of the UK's most exciting wildlife species.

Only a disappointing fraction of the UK population outside of the Highlands are even aware of their existence. The Scottish Wildcat Association aims to change that and involve people of all ages and interests in saving and protecting our last large land predator forever.

The Scottish Wildcat

Pound for pound the Scottish wildcat is one of the most impressive predators in the world; intelligent, fearless, resourceful, patient, agile and powerful they are genuine superpredators and until as recently as the 1950s were believed to be man killers.

Today the wildcat continues to receive the respect of Highland farmers and gamekeepers, many of them happy to recount the tale of the wildcat mother killing herself to kill a golden eagle attacking her kittens, or stories from childhood of wildcats evading teams of watching keepers to snatch lambs from their father's fields.
