In 1909, a small group of girls turned up to Lord Robert Baden-Powell's first rally of Boy Scouts at the Crystal Palace. In an age where skirts were ankle length and young ladies never ran, these girls insisted they wanted to be Scouts too.

As a response, in 1910, Baden-Powell set up the Girl Guides and asked his sister to look after the new organisation.

Centenary First Day Cover

Royal Mail mark 100 years of the Girl Guides with a miniature sheet released on 2nd February 2010.

To compliment it, we offer a superb tribute cover. The envelope shows the Girl Guides flag flying in the background. At the bottom of the cover is a list of all the badges the Girl Guides can work towards.

Each cover is postmarked at Crystal Palace, where that brave group of girls first asked Lord Robert Baden-Powell for their own movement at the 1909 Scout rally. 100 years on from that, 6,000 Girl Guides attended London's Crystal Palace to celebrate in 2009.

Signed Editions

Lady Baden Powell had very kindly agreed to sign our covers for us her health is not good at the moment and so this will now no longer be happening.

However, we are delighted to announce that award winning actress, celebrity Ambassador for the Girl Guides and "English Rose", Susan Hampshire will be our autograph for the signed editions instead.

Susan Hampshire received Emmy Awards for her roles in The Forsyte Saga (1970), The First Churchills (1971), and Vanity Fair (1973). Her many other starring roles included lead parts in The Pallisers, The Barchester Chronicles and Coming Home.
