50th Anniversary of the Cavern Club The Cavern Club saw a revolution in music. It was the hottest venue in Liverpool back before the Beatles made it Big - yes, this was pre-famous, pre-Ringo days when Pete Best was the drummer.
To make the Cavern Club's 50th Anniversary, we've produced this hugely collectable official cover. It shows the famous wall covered with the autographs of the great Mersey bands. You can choose to have it with the full set of Beatles stamps released by Royal Mail on 9th January 2007 (as illustrated above) or with the Beatles miniature sheet.
We are extremely lucky to have a real Beatle sign for us. Pete Best, the drummer in the band before Ringo, personally autographed a very limited number. Apparently Pete Best's mother, Mona, got the Beatles their first booking in the Cavern Club (before all the hits!).
We also have some miniature sheet covers signed by Gerry Marsden. In 1962 Gerry and the Pacemakers were signed by manager Brian Epstein as his second group after the Beatles. They made their name with ballads like 'Ferry Cross the Mersey' and 'Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying' as well as raunchy pop. But it was 'You'll Never Walk Alone' that was their biggest hit. For three decades it has remained the anthem of the crowds at Liverpool Football Club. Gerry and the Pacemakers also performed at the Cavern Club – so this is a superb signature on the Cavern Club cover.
