On June 6th 2006, Royal Mail issued a set of stamps for the 40th Anniversary of the England’s World Cup victory. At the same time, they also released a new Smilers sheet. The sheet has 20 of the new 1st class England Football stamp and 20 different Smilers labels. The labels tell the whole story of England’s victory on 30th July 1966 in pictures - from the crowds arriving at the start to Bobby Moore holding up the cup.

We are already doing a cover for the set of World Cup stamps. This is our alternative cover for the World Cup Smilers. It features the 1966 mascot, World Cup Willie. Our illustration comes from a MaxiCard signed by Bobby Moore (for most collectors these days, that’s the closest you will get to owning his autograph!).

We can fit 4 Smilers stamps and labels on one cover reasonably well so this will be our straightforward cover. It’ll be available unsigned or signed by 1966 winning team member,Jack Charlton.

If you want to get all the Smilers stamps and labels, then we offer a set of 5 covers either unsigned or signed by 5 different 1966 stars (our choice of signatures).

For those who like a lot of signatures, we are also offering a set of 10 Smilers covers, all hopefully with different postmarks and each signed by a different 1966 winning team member. It is unlikely that Sir Bobby Charlton will sign so we offer Jimmy Greaves as the 10th autograph. All of these covers will have a 1966 stamp with special cachet.
