We Retained our Investors in People Status!!
Last week (Oct) saw our second lot of interviews regarding our Investors in People status - so we duly cleared Brian's clutter from the whole office and swept it into a cupboard, we bribed the staff going for the interviews and low and behold we retained our Investors in People status for the next three years! Our Girl Group is Complete
We are pleased to announce that the final of our baby girls - little Grace was born to Clair and Andy. Congratulations to all the family.
Phoenix Sea Angling Club in Dover
We recently donated some of our RNLI products to the Phoenix Sea Angling Club in Dover who were holding a raffle to raise money for the RNLI. In total they raised an amazing £1580, and we were really chuffed to see the photos which we thought we'd share with you! 'If it were not for companies such as yourselves, supporting charity fundraising like we did this summer, life would of been a whole lot harder to raise such sums of money, so to be able to use the pictures on your website would be the ideal thing to show your customers that you do indeed support and help local organisations, you never know, one or 2 might even come and support us in next years fundraising! Our club, is a small fishing club, only created in 2009 by a group of friends, and people who just simply enjoyed getting out onto the piers and beaches, in the open air doing what we like doing, fishing, so we decided to form a small club based at the Phoenix railway club in Dover, we only have at the moment a dozen adults and 10 juniors, most of the juniors had never fished before, and are being taught by the adults, to which we would more than willingly teach anyone, anything they wanted to know if they were to join us, ranging from casting to rig making, to hints and tips of what baits and tactics to use on certain venues, we are at the moment looking and hoping to gain some more members to fish, but also to have fun and enjoy the times there out, but as a club, we do have our own rules, and always abide by the N.F,S.A guidelines and rules, and above all, the safety aspect is always there, we have monthly competitions in different venues, ranging from, Sandwich right down to dungeness, including the southern breakwater evening comp in september, the only month there are no adult competitions is July, when we will endeavour to raise funds each year for the RNLI and have a junior comp BABIES, BABIES, BABIES!
As many of you who read our magazines and Tony's emails will know, we have had a lot of baby talk going on in the office over the past 9 - 12 months! and almost all of the little bundles have arrived so here goes the congratulations!
BRAND NEW SIGNATURES We are very excited to announce that the great James Bolam will be signing our Childrens Books covers. Not only is he a national treasure with a career spanning four decades and such roles as Terry Collier in the "Likely Lads" and Jack Ford in "When the boat comes in". He is now currently playing Grandpa in the Cbeebies show "Grandpa In My Pocket". Following the huge success of our First Day Cover Masterclass last year and the first wave of "Masterclass Graduates", we are running the distance learning course again this September. Our online course takes students from the very basics of collecting covers, through to judging condition, spotting errors, and building a collection for interest and even financial gain. Lessons are done in your own time and there is a Certificate of Completion at the end. We are delighted to announce that we have bought an official license to produce covers for London 2012 so our Olympics covers should be gold medal-tastic! Railway News: We now have a page on Facebook for our railway cover collectors. Even if you don't use Facebook, you can see the page WITHOUT a Facebook account and it gives all our freshest, fastest rail news. If you decide to create an account, you can also join discussions, review our covers, share news and give us ideas. Why not have a look? Did you know we offer a Wish List service? If there is something you really want in your collection, let us know what it is & your budget and we'll do our best to track one down for you. We can't make any promises but we see so many collections for sale privately and at auction that we're well placed to try! Email Betty to take advantage! And bye-bye to Ellie Hopkins who is now on maternity leave (baby due in early May). Club ReservationsDid you know that we know list what is reserved for each club, with an estimated despatch date and a link to the product online so you can check it out? Remember, just because it is reserved, you don't have to buy it - feel free to cancel anything you don't want. Artist Proofs now available: When a stamp sheet collector recently visited our office, he asked to buy one of our artist proofs - that is when the designer prints out the stamp sheet design before submitting it to Royal Mail for a final check. We felt it would be unfair to only offer them to him and not give all our collectors the same opportunity - so we propose a limited edition of 10 artist's proofs for each new sheet we do, presented in a special folder and signed by the designer at £35 pounds each.
