Terence Cuneo Memorial Trust
So far, we have raised £1587.00 for this cause
Many of our Buckingham rail covers feature the stunning paintings of artist, Terence Cuneo. All these paintings are used with the kind permission of the Cuneo Estate and the covers are raising funds for the Terence Cuneo Memorial Trust. When Terence Cuneo died in 1996, there were many of his friends who felt that his achievements, as one of the 20th Century's best and most versatile painters, should be recognised and celebrated in some way, to encourage future generations to know and enjoy his exceptional talent. This group commissioned sculptor, Philip to create a permanent memorial to the artist who died in 1996. He did a fantastic job - the sculpture even incorporates a mouse (which will make all Cuneo fans smile!). The Terence Cuneo statue was officially opened by the Princess Royal in October 2004. Thanks to Network Rail, the site is very appropriate: Waterloo Station. This was the perfect location as Cuneo did an iconic painting of the station concourse in the 1960s and, of course, he is renounced for his trains and railway scenes. The Trust has also given the Cuneo name to an annual prize at the Slade School of Fine Art, his alma mater.
