Bath Postal Museum
So far, we have raised £6428.00 for this cause
The Bath Postal Museum has a superb archive of rare postal items and a fascinating collection everything to do with the post including covers, stamps, postboxes and uniforms! It is the only comprehensive postal museum open to the public in the UK and makes a brilliant day out. The museum has been built slowly with love and dedication by husband and wife team, Audrey & Harold Swindells who purchased a house in Great Pulteney Street in 1978 to give the Museum a home in their lower ground floor. It all started on 'a wing and a prayer' and at first they and colleagues (who became Trustees) had only a little display material and no money. However, it grew and was moved in 1985 to the building from which the first stamp was sent from anywhere in the world! The museum now attracts school visits from all over the country and is supported by the Marquess of Bath and television, film and theatre actor Richard Briers. As well as the exhibitions and museum shop there is a self service cafe upstairs in the museum. The Bath Postal Museum is desperate for donations, however small, as they are under huge financial pressure and may be forced to close. If you can help in anyway, either by making a donation or by raising awareness, please contact Mrs Swindells at the Museum or through their website. You will find the Museum at: Bath Postal Museum 8 Broad Street Bath BA1 5LJ Telephone 01225 460333
